Booking Terms

Version 2026-09-16. These terms apply to bookings made through this website on or after that date. The version that applied when you booked is the one that governs your booking, and a copy is sent with your confirmation email.
1. Who you are booking with
This website belongs to Easy Rider Vietnam Loops, the guide centre in Dalat, Vietnam. The tours are planned, led and carried out by its guides, and your contract for the tour is with the guide centre.
Bookings and online payments are handled for the guide centre by Lawalocals in the Netherlands. When you pay online, you pay Lawalocals.

Dutch and European law on package travel may place further obligations on Lawalocals, in particular where a tour combines transport, accommodation and other services for a single price. Where it does, those obligations apply in full, and nothing in these terms sets them aside.
2. What you are booking
Each tour page describes the route, the number of days and nights, and exactly what is and is not included. Read it alongside these terms — together they are what you are agreeing to.
Tours are private. You ride with your own guide and bookings are not combined with other travellers, so a tour runs from one person and there is no minimum group size. Groups are up to ten people.
These are full riding days on mountain and country roads, with unpaved sections and weather that changes quickly. You should be reasonably fit and comfortable spending several hours a day on a motorbike.
3. A request becomes a booking when the guide centre accepts it
Submitting the form and paying online sends a booking request. Your tour is confirmed only once the guide centre accepts it, normally on WhatsApp within 24 hours.
If they cannot accept your request, or if you have heard nothing after 72 hours, your payment is refunded in full. We start the refund within 72 hours; how quickly it reaches your statement is up to your bank, usually five to ten days.
4. Price and payment
Prices are per person. Euro figures alongside are indicative; the amount charged is the one shown at checkout.
The price on the tour page is the total. You pay part of it online now and the rest in cash to your guide when you meet at the start of the tour. Tours starting in Dalat take 20% online; tours that start somewhere else take 50%, because your guide rides out to meet you and commits to rooms and arrangements further in advance. The percentage that applies to your tour is shown on the tour page and again at checkout.
The amount you pay online is the fee Lawalocals charges for arranging the booking and handling the payment. It is part of the total price of your tour, not an extra charge on top of it. There is no booking fee and no card surcharge beyond whatever your own bank charges for a foreign payment.
The balance is paid in Vietnamese dong. If you would rather settle it another way, ask your guide when they confirm.
5. Riding as a passenger, or driving yourself
Most travellers ride as a passenger behind their guide. That needs no licence of any kind.
If you want to drive yourself, you must be legally allowed to ride a motorbike in Vietnam. In practice that means a licence from your own country with a motorcycle category, together with an International Driving Permit issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention, or a Vietnamese licence.
International Driving Permits issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention are not valid in Vietnam. Among others, permits issued in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland do not make you legal to ride here. Since 2025 an A1 category covers motorbikes up to 125cc; above that you need a full A.
Your guide will ask to see your documents on the first day. If they are not in order you ride as a passenger instead, at the same price — self-drive is never cheaper, so nothing is lost.
Riding without a valid licence is illegal in Vietnam. It also means the motorbike insurance will not respond, and almost every travel and medical policy excludes it.
6. Insurance — what is included and what is not
Each tour includes the motorbike insurance that Vietnamese law requires. It covers the vehicle and damage to others. It does not cover your own medical costs.
You need your own travel and medical insurance, and it has to cover riding a motorbike. Many standard policies exclude motorcycling altogether, and many that cover you as a passenger exclude it when you drive yourself, or above a certain engine size. Check the wording before you travel rather than after — it is the single most useful thing you can do before a trip like this.
7. What we need to know about you
Tell us when you book about anything that could affect your ability to ride or travel: limited mobility, recent surgery, medication that makes you drowsy, pregnancy, or anything needing regular treatment. It very rarely means you cannot come; it changes how your guide plans the days, and how far from a town you spend them.
Travellers under 18 ride only as passengers and only with a parent or guardian on the same tour, who makes the booking.
Please give contact details you can actually be reached on while travelling, including a working WhatsApp number.
8. On the road
Wear the helmet provided, follow your guide’s instructions, and do not ride or travel under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Your guide may end a tour for anyone who rides dangerously or is under the influence, and no refund is due in that case.
Your guide may change or shorten a route because of weather, road conditions or safety. That is their call to make. Where a change means missing something significant from the description, they will agree an alternative with you at the time.
9. Changing or cancelling
Changing your dates is usually easier than cancelling, and where the guide centre can move you, what you have paid moves with the booking. If you do cancel, how much comes back depends on how far ahead you tell us — the full details are in our cancellation policy. The balance is only ever paid in person, so there is never anything left to pay.
10. If the guide centre has to cancel
Occasionally a tour cannot run — illness, a mechanical problem, or conditions that make riding genuinely unsafe. You will be offered another date or another guide, and if neither works for you, everything you paid online is refunded in full.
If a tour is stopped part-way for a reason on the guide centre’s side, your guide agrees with you there and then what part of the balance is fair. Because the balance is cash and paid as you go, nothing is left sitting with anyone.
11. If something goes wrong
Tell your guide at the time. Almost everything can be put right on the spot, and almost nothing can be put right a month later.
If that does not resolve it, message the guide centre on WhatsApp. For anything to do with a payment, a refund or this website, write to Lawalocals at info@lawalocals.com. We reply within five working days.
If we cannot sort it out between us, you can take the matter to the Dutch courts. You keep every right you have to go to a court or a consumer body where you live.
12. Responsibility
The guide centre provides the tour: the riding, the guides, the motorbikes, the accommodation along the route and your safety on the road.
Lawalocals arranges your booking and handles your online payment, and is responsible for doing that properly — for what this website says about the tours, for the security of the payment, for passing your details to the guide centre, and for refunding what is owed to you.
Where Dutch or European package travel law places responsibility for the tour itself on Lawalocals as well, that responsibility applies in full.
For loss other than personal injury, and other than loss caused deliberately or through negligence, liability is limited to three times the price of your tour.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory consumer law in the country where you live.
13. The 14-day cooling-off period does not apply
A tour is a leisure service provided on a specific date, and contracts of that kind are excluded from the 14-day right of withdrawal that applies to most online purchases (article 6:230p under e of the Dutch Civil Code, implementing article 16(l) of the Consumer Rights Directive). Our cancellation terms apply instead.
14. These terms
Dutch law applies to the booking and payment services provided by Lawalocals. If we change these terms, the new version applies only to bookings made after we publish it.
